About Wheels of Justice:
The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office’s “Wheels of Justice” team has ridden for the past 15
years in the Ben to The Shore Bike Tour, a 65-mile bike ride that begins at the base of the Ben Franklin
Bridge in Philadelphia and winds through scenic South Jersey to the Atlantic City Boardwalk—all to raise
money for children’s charities and the families of fallen first responders. For eleven of those years, “Wheels”
has been the top fundraising team of the Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation’s Ben to The Shore
Bike Tour—raising more than 90,000 in 2022—and winning the John F. Timoney Team Award.
2023 is the 15 th anniversary of the “Wheels of Justice” bike team and our goal is to raise $100,000.
Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation was originally established to raise money for various fallen
officer associations in the Philadelphia region. Event organizers have since expanded their beneficiaries to
include foundations in Montgomery County, including the Fox Children’s Foundation—named for Brad Fox,
one of Montgomery County’s own police officers, who died in the line of duty in 2012—and the Montgomery
County Hero’s Fund.
This year, the “Wheels” team—comprised of 250 riders from throughout Montgomery County’s Law
Enforcement, First Responder Community and their friends and families—will be celebrating its 15-Year
Anniversary participating in the Ben to The Shore Bike Tour, scheduled for Sunday, July 23, 2023. District
Attorney Kevin Steele will again ride in the 65-mile event and has committed to fielding a team of more than
250 riders on the “Wheels of Justice” team. We are encouraging all police departments and first responders
throughout Montgomery County to participate in this fun and well-run event benefitting worthy charities. Rider
registration opens February 2023.
